Welcome to Capitol Heel, the Washington, D.C. area’s premier dog walking service. Owned and operated by experienced dog trainers, we work with clients in DC Metro Area providing both “walking” services and “workout” sessions for dogs that have completed basic obedience training.

Capitol Heel is committed to providing the highest level of trainer-based dog walking services - because we not only love dogs, we understand them.

We are lead by a philosophy of “Relationship. Reinforcement. Reliability.” This means we work to create a partnership with you and your family to support and optimize your dog’s training by being effective leaders while you’re away.

Capitol Heel is owned and operated by the husband-and-wife dog training team of Bobby and Shannon Mahoney. The Mahoneys have a well-established reputation as skilled dog handlers, having professionally trained more than 1000 dogs, including service dogs, in the Washington, D.C. area.

High standards for service and animal care are at the heart of Capitol Heel’s philosophy. Every member of our staff is trained to execute all basic obedience commands and certified in pet CPR.

In our daily walks, we nurture basic character traits in your puppy such as respect for leadership, attentiveness, curiosity, playfulness, and an enthusiastic attitude towards learning. We emphasize fun in order to create a happy, healthy, well-balanced puppy. During our walks, we are always conscious that as your dog walker, we are helping to set the stage for your puppy’s future development.

Basic Dog Walking || 30 minutes
Capitol Heel’s Basic Dog Walking service is available to clients on an as-needed basis or regularly scheduled walks Monday through Friday. Each 30 minute session provides your dog with the exercise and companionship they need during the day. There is no training prerequisite for walking sessions.

Training Workouts || 30 minutes
For clients who have invested in obedience training for their dog, Capitol Heel offers training workout sessions. Our workout sessions are an ideal way to reinforce training your dog has already received.

During each 30 minute session our experienced handlers will work with your dog on all basic training commands: heel, sit/stay, automatic sits, down/stay, long distance down/stay, “come when called” and “go to place.” Capitol Heel works closely with Olde Towne School for Dogs (OTSFD) and has designed its workout sessions to build on OTSFD’s widely-respected training program.
